Musical way to raise funds

THE Kelana Jaya parliamentary office has launched a mini song album hoping to bring joy to the public as part of a community fundraising project.
MP Loh Gwo-Burne said the album is intended as a thanksgiving gift for the people, and hoped their support will help generate funds to be used for community projects that benefit the needy.

The mini album contains four tracks, all of which are original numbers co-written by Loh and his songwriter friend Danny Tan & Co who call themselves d*Crew. The songs are produced by DJ Hope.

The first track is called Teratak, which is the same name of the album title, featuring the voices of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, The Wayfarers — an acapella group comprising family members of Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad — and Loh himself.

The album launch was held recently at the concourse area of Subang Parade which was attended by Anwar, and several other politicians that included Selangor state executive councillors Elizabeth Wong and Ronnie Liu, Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam and Taman Medan assemblyman Haniza Mohamed Talha.

Elizabeth Wong was also roped into the project singing one of the songs called Feeling Fun, which is the last track on the album.
According to Loh, the title track Teratak, which means hut in English, represents the humble home or the family unit.

“As the name suggests, the project centres around the family institution. It is a tribute to home and family, and to Asian and Malaysian values,” said Loh in explaining the album’s concept and title.
He said the album was produced without funding but from the production crew’s own pocket.
